Mark Lawrenson: I never imagined Liverpool FC would slump to these depths

Roy Hodgson

AFTER touching down in Spain on Sunday, my feet had barely hit the tarmac when someone told me Liverpool had lost to Blackpool.

Needless to say my initial reaction was that it was a wind-up.

Because I really didn’t think Liverpool, even in these trying times, would plummet to these depths.

I really thought that a game against Blackpool at home would be the perfect chance to get things back on even keel with a nice 2-0 maybe 3-0 win, move a few places up the table and go form there.

And I imagine most supporters saw it that way too.

So for them to come to Anfield and win comfortably and outplay a Liverpool side lacking so much in desire means it is officially time to worry.

It’s officially a crisis.

I was asked it if it would have been a crisis if Liverpool had lost to Sunderland a week earlier and I said ‘no’.
