Steven Gerrard's England injury - should clubs pull their players out of international friendlies? Vote now

Steven Gerrard, England

LIVERPOOL skipper Steven Gerrard suffered a hamstring injury in the closing stages of England's friendly defeat to France last night despite an agreement he would only play an hour of the game.

The Reds are reported to be furious at this state of affairs with fitness chief Darren Burgess @darrenburgess25 venting his fury on Twitter immediately after the game.

“@darrenburgess25: Completely amateurish and now we pay for their incompetence. Absolutely disgraceful” NOT A HAPPY BUNNYless than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone

The incident again raises the issue of club versus country and many Reds fans will be harking back to the numerous injury blows the likes of John Barnes, Jamie Redknapp and Fernando Torres have suffered while playing for the countries - do you think it is time clubs starting pulling their players out of international friendlies?
