Liverpool FC latest: Paul Konchesky admits he hasn't been good enough

PAUL KONCHESKY admits he has not been good enough for Liverpool while accepting his error cost Roy Hodgson’s side a point at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Konchesky was caught out by Aaron Lennon in the second minute of injury time to allow the winger to score and earn Tottenham Hotspur a last-gasp 2-1 victory.

The left-back has yet to win over the Anfield supporters as he struggles to cope with the increased pressure and demands following his arrival from Fulham in the summer.

And the 29-year-old believes he must improve his level of performances while acknowledging he was culpable for a demoralising defeat in the capital.

“I’ve got to up my game,” said Konchesky. “Where I’ve played before has not been as high a standard as Liverpool, but this is a good pressure.

“The fans want you to be in the top four because that’s where Liverpool belong.

“Straight after (Lennon’s winner) I knew that I’d have to hold my hands up, but we also had chances to win the game.

“That’s part of football and we’ve got to try to take the positives out of the game.

“I was gutted (with the winner); being the last minute as well it didn’t give us any time to get back into the game.
