LIVERPOOL have ruled out making a sensational move to bring former manager Rafael Benitez back to the club.
It was confirmed yesterday that Benitez, who is in Merseyside on holiday for the festive period, had left Inter Milan after an agreement was reached over the termination of his contract.
Speculation had grown during the past week that the Spaniard could make a remarkable return to Liverpool just six months after leaving, given the indifferent start to the season by his successor Roy Hodgson.
But Anfield sources have confirmed there are no plans for the club to approach Benitez with a view to offering him the job he previously occupied for six years.
Having succeeded Jose Mourinho, Benitez guided Inter to victory in the Italian Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup.
But Inter currently sit seventh in their domestic able while they only qualified second in their Champions League group.
