Roy Hodgson 300
ROY HODGSON admits Liverpool must show more self-belief if they are to arrest their debilitating travel sickness.
The Anfield outfit head for Blackburn Rovers this evening hoping for a better 2011 on the road after winning just two of 18 away Premier League matches during the previous 12 months.
Only one of those has come this season under Hodgson’s tenure, a late 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in October.
The weekend comeback win over the Trotters provided some welcome relief for the under-fire Anfield manager following the shock 1-0 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers three days earlier.
Since the start of last season, Liverpool have conceded the first goal in 18 league games and gone on to win only twice – both against Bolton.
And Hodgson said: “It shows that we’ve got to build up our character and build up our sense of belief in ourselves and what we are doing; have more faith in our play. I thought that was very evident on Saturday.
“We were playing against a very dangerous team in Bolton – everyone’s been singing their praises.
“You’ve got to be quite courageous in taking the game to them as we did and run the risk that somewhere along the line you’re going to be hit on the counter-attack.
