ROY HODGSON refused to answer questions on his future last night despite increasing calls from irate Liverpool supporters for his dismissal.
Hodgson's men slumped to their ninth defeat in 20 Premier League games this season when they were soundly beaten 3-1 at Blackburn Rovers.
Martin Olsson's opener was followed by two goals from Benjani either side of half-time to consign Liverpool to their seventh away loss in 10 outings and leave them just five points off the foot of the table.
Steven Gerrard pulled a goal back in the 82nd minute but then missed a penalty shortly afterwards to cap a truly miserable evening for the visitors.
It increased the pressure on beleaguered Hodgson to an almost intolerable level, with Liverpool fans joining in chants from Blackburn supporters of “you're getting sacked in the morning”. However, Hodgson answered just three questions and refused to discuss his position before his post-match press conference was cut short.
“I am not prepared to talk about my future,” said the 63-year-old. “At this moment I am depressed enough with the performance and the result I am not hear to talk about that.
“I have no comments to make and I don't intend to answer any questions on the subject.”
Of the game, Hodgson said: “We are very dejected, we have feelings bitter disappointment and frustration. We thought they were poor goals to concede. In the second half the players gave it their best shot, we had plenty of the ball.
“Who knows, if Steven's penalty had gone in we could have salvaged something from the game.
“In football you keep going as best you can. You try and make sure the next result is a better one but that's all you can do. Football throws up good and bad moments, and in a bad moment no amount of talking can change that.”
