Pepe Reina 300
PEPE REINA believes LIverpool will always attract top class players – and is looking forward to watching their new striking duo to erase the memory of Fernando Torres.
The deadline day capture of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, for £35m and £22.8m respectively, is proof to the former Villarreal man the Reds will continue to pull in the big names.
Suarez has already paid back a slice of his transfer fee with the clinching goal in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Stoke.
A third successive victory and clean sheet in that game delighted Reina – as has the impact of the Uruguayan forward as the team attempts to recover form Torres’s £50million switch to Chelsea.
Reina said: “Liverpool will always attract good players because it’s an historic club. It’s one of the Big Four teams in England.
“The people will always want to come here, that’s clear.
“I hope for many more of the goals that Luis scored within 30 minutes of coming on on Wednesday. We have to welcome him, and Carroll as well.”
He added: “It was important to keep that momentum, we knew they were winnable games, although in the Premier League you cannot say that too often.
“We had respect for the three teams we played but we won them all. And we’re a lot better now.”
