LIVERPOOL FC defender Martin Skrtel is almost certain to miss the start of the season as he continues to struggle with a calf problem.
Skrtel played every single minute of the last Premier League campaign, but has not appeared for LFC during their pre-season preparations.
The centre-back had hoped to be available in time for the opener at home to Sunderland on Saturday week, only to suffer a setback last week.
And the Slovakian, who yesterday pulled out of his country’s squad for the friendly against Austria next week, admits he has no idea when he will be available for Liverpool FC.
“I suffered an injury setback on Friday,” said Skrtel.
“I felt strong pain in my leg so I am back with the doctors receiving treatment.
“I really don’t know how long will it take to heal. I am doing my best to be back as soon as possible.”
Dalglish confirmed: “Martin has not joined in with us yet (in training). So we will wait and see.”
