Liverpool FC midfielder Charlie Adam’s sending off was a bit harsh, says Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp

TOTTENHAM manager Harry Redknapp thought Charlie Adam’s dismissal was harsh during Liverpool FC’s 4-0 defeat at White Hart Lane.

But the Spurs manager said he had no problem with referee Mike Jones’s decision to send off Martin Skrtel, who had a torrid time trying to handle Gareth Bale.

Liverpool lost 4-0 and both saw Adam and Skrtel were sent off for two bookable offences on a miserable afternoon for Kenny Dalglish’s side in the capital.

Dalglish didn’t dwell on the sendings-off, but his opposite number felt at least one was a bit tough on Liverpool.

The Tottenham manager said: “The right-back had problems with Gareth, I have no sympathy for him.

“If you already have a yellow you don’t lift a guy up on the halfway line,” Redknapp said.

“I don’t know whether Charlie Adam had his eye on the ball or Scott, but I can’t see him trying to do him.

“He’s not that kind of lad.

“He could have hurt Scott badly. He hung a leg out maybe and I would give him the benefit of the doubt.”
