Andy Carroll celebrates against Everton

ANDY CARROLL has dedicated his Merseyside derby goal to everyone at Liverpool FC – and thanked the club for showing faith in him.

The £35m man bagged his first Barclays Premier League strike of the season on Saturday lunchtime when opening the scoring against 10 man Everton midway through the second half.

Carroll, who has registered in the Carling Cup already this campaign, admits finally getting his name on the scoresheet in the league is significant relief.

The former Newcastle United man met Jose Enrique’s cross with a neat finish to break Everton’s resolve in front of the Gwladys Street end at Goodison Park.

Labelling his goal as the high point of this Liverpool career to date, Carroll has now urged his team-mates to build on the momentum of the weekend’s derby victory, starting with the visit of Manchester United on October 15.

“It felt great,” said Carroll on scoring in the 71st minute on Saturday.

“It was a good result and it was nice to get on the score sheet.
