We’re due some luck, declares positive Liverpool FC boss Dalglish
KENNY DALGLISH believes if Liverpool FC had luck on their side then they would have secured a handsome victory over Norwich City.
The Anfield outfit had 25 attempts against Paul Lambert’s Premier League newcomers over the weekend but managed just one goal – Craig Bellamy’s opener just before half-time.
Liverpool were punished for their wastefulness when substitute Grant Holt levelled the game midway through the second half before the Norwich captain came close to putting the visitors ahead but was denied by Pepe Reina.
Dalglish’s men piled forward in the closing stages but a mix of profligacy and inspired goalkeeping from former Everton player John Ruddy meant they were forced to settle for a draw.
Keen to reflect on the positives of having laid siege to the Norwich goal for long spells – rather than the glut of missed opportunities – the Liverpool manager believes his team deserved more from the fixture and says they now just need fortune to favour them.
“I think we’ve been brilliant in creating the chances,” said Dalglish. “So we’ll look at the positive. The finishing side, obviously we’ve got to add to it when you look at the facts and figures and reflect on what they’ve actually done and what they’ve actually created. You wouldn’t bet against scoring five or six on any given day, just not today.
“I just keep waiting for our luck to change, as soon as our luck changes we’ll be all right. And that’s all it is.”
