Liverpool FC midfielder Lucas Leiva wants Anfield to be a fortress again

LUCAS admits Liverpool FC must make Anfield a fortress again – as he praised the impact of summer signing Charlie Adam.

Last Saturday’s 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion continued an impressive record on the road for Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool FC side, who have now won six of their eight away games in all competitions this season.

In contrast, in five home games Liverpool have won only twice while spurning a clutch of chances to avoid 1-1 draws against Sunderland, Manchester United and Norwich City.

The Anfield outfit entertain promoted side Swansea City on Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games.

And Lucas accepts Dalglish’s side can ill afford many more dropped points at home if they are to bolster their challenge for Champions League qualification.

“The results may not have been the best just yet but there are a lot of new players that came in and it always takes time to settle and build an understanding,” said the Brazilian.

“The points that we have dropped, especially in the home games, could be crucial in the end but I am still really confident that we will have a good season.

“We have to make sure we get the points we need, especially at home, because that will be very important for us.

“We know we have to improve our finishing but I think if we are creating so many chances, that means we are doing something right.

“If you look at the number of chances we have created throughout the whole season and think about the number of times we have hit the post or the bear, then there are plenty of positives.”
