Liverpool FC defender Sebastian Coates sets sights on Anfield debut

SEBASTIAN COATES admits he cannot wait to make his Liverpool FC Anfield bow and experience the power of the Kop.

The Uruguayan has enjoyed some encouraging first steps in a Liverpool FC shirt since his £7million arrival from Nacional in the summer.

However, all four of the centre-back’s appearances have come away from home, in the Carling Cup at Brighton and Hove Albion, Stoke City and Chelsea, as well as the Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur.

And while having watched Liverpool FC games at Anfield from the bench or the stands, Coates is now itching for the opportunity to perform on the field.

“I have only played away from home so far and it would be very nice to play at Anfield,” said Coates.

“You can see the passion there is in the crowd. You can see it sitting on the bench but it would be much nicer to see it playing on the field.

“It hasn’t really come as a surprise to me because I had already heard of the passion that Liverpool fans had but being told about something and then seeing it for yourself first hand are two different things.

“In other parts of the world, the fans of other clubs are also passionate about their teams but here I believe that the passion of the fans is special.

“It makes it very difficult for the teams that come to visit Anfield.”
