Liverpool FC manager Kenny Dalglish uses ‘video nasty’ to fight club's corner

THESE are not just claims of tough luck – Kenny Dalglish believes there is hard evidence to fight Liverpool FC’s case.

The Liverpool FC manager took the unusual step of adding a visual element to his weekly press conference yesterday as he aired his grievances over what he sees as a raw deal from the footballing authorities.

Dalglish’s time was inevitably taken up with voicing his continued belief that Luis Suarez is being dealt a rough hand by officials on the pitch as well as now those in power off the field.

The claims that the Uruguayan deals in simulation have exacerbated the problem says Dalglish but – with several incidents from Liverpool FC’s Monday night defeat at Fulham ready to view – the manager has felt the need to defend other members of his team.

What Dalglish craves is consistency, a greater understanding of how officials interpret the action and says meetings with official Martin Atkinson and referees’ chief Mike Riley have been productive.

But the lines of communication between clubs and those controlling Premier League football must be stronger.

“All you want the referee to do is referee as he sees it,” said Dalglish.

“I’ve shown you two clips there but there are plenty others.

“The difference for me is that people talk about intent.

“Going to ask for clarity from the referees and consistency in their interpretation, everybody would be better off then.

“All we want is some clarity,” Dalglish continued.

“If they just sat down and spoke to people in football they’d get a better understanding of it and maybe we’d get a better understanding of them.

“Martin Atkinson came and did a thing with everybody and I thought it was really helpful.

“You see them as referees and don’t really see them as people, when he came here and spoke to the players, everyone was pleasantly surprised and he was speaking normally, we were having a laugh.
