THE Premier League may not quite be at the halfway mark, but Liverpool FC striker Craig Bellamy has already proven to be as good a signing as any in the top flight this season.
Many people said it was a bit of a gamble, but given he was available on a free transfer, for me it was a bit of a no-brainer.
Bellamy’s ability has never been in question. For Liverpool FC, it was just a case of trying to get the best out of him.
He had been at the club before, so he knows how it works. And given his admiration for Kenny Dalglish, it’s no surprise to see him making such a big impact.
As Aston Villa found out at the weekend, he forces defences back with his pace and aggression and makes chances for his team-mates.
Liverpool FC could have won by almost anything. I’ve covered Villa a few times on Match of the Day already this season, and their main problem is that they are so, so negative.
Opposition teams can dominate Villa so easily. They are a bit like Alex McLeish had his Birmingham team, but they had better defensive midfielders and better protection for the back four.
At Villa, teams can get at their defence without much problem. We always say there are no easy games in the Premier League, but that was one for Liverpool FC on Sunday.
