Liverpool FC manager Kenny Dalglish queries Craig Bellamy’s yellow card fever

KENNY DALGLISH hopes the recent spate of harsh yellow cards for Liverpool FC striker Craig Bellamy is mere coincidence rather than anything more sinister.

Bellamy has been controversially cautioned in each of Liverpool FC’s last four games, and now stands just one yellow card away from an automatic one-match ban.

Liverpool FC manager Dalglish believes the 32-year-old, who has had regular run-ins with referees throughout his career, has been wrongly censured.

And having accused the Football Association of a witch-hunt against Luis Suarez, Liverpool fear another of their strikers is now being singled out.

“You would hate to believe there is an agenda against him from anyone,” said Dalglish, whose team entertain rock-bottom Blackburn Rovers this afternoon. “You would like to think if you had been unlucky four times, you would not be unlucky for a fifth.

“Mind you, you might have said that after the first two.”

Asked if he would ask Craig Bellamy to tone down his feistiness, Dalglish responded: “No. He is experienced enough to know.

“But he has been booked four times and he hasn’t deserved any of them. Four on the spin is pretty consistent though!

“If Craig needs to play, he will play. We have just got to take that chance. He is experienced enough to get himself through it.”
