CHARLIE ADAM has warned his Liverpool FC team-mates the job is only half done after they put one foot in the Carling Cup final.
Steven Gerrard’s early penalty has given Kenny Dalglish’s side a one-goal advantage to take into the second leg of their semi-final against Manchester City at Anfield on Wednesday week.
With Liverpool having never lost at home in 14 previous League Cup semi-finals, they are odds-on favourites to win through to a February 26 final against Crystal Palace or Cardiff City.
But Adam said there can be no resting on laurels if a first appearance at Wembley since 1996 is to be achieved.
“I think the tie is still open,” he said. “This is a difficult place to come, this is only the second game they have lost at home this season, so it is going to be difficult at Anfield.
“We have Stoke and Bolton to look forward to now and we will take care of the second leg when it comes round.
“It is nowhere near done. We have got 90 minutes of hard work, we have terrific support behind us and Anfield will be rocking. It will be a terrific second leg and hopefully we can do the job.
“It will be tough, but if we prepare right and we are ready it could lead to a terrific night at Anfield.”
Liverpool became the first team to prevent City from scoring at Eastlands in 35 games, thanks to a stoic rearguard action during the second half.
Having lost 3-0 at City last week, it was a significant turnaround for Dalglish’s men.
And Adam added: “The clean sheet will give us confidence, especially as we lost three goals the last time we came here. They have top players and it will be tough.
“They had a tough game on Sunday and we were looking forward to this match. We are happy with our performance.
