KENNY DALGLISH is confident there will be no trouble at Anfield this afternoon as he called on Liverpool FC’s supporters to help roar their team to another notable cup scalp.
Three days after booking a first appearance at Wembley since 1996, Dalglish’s side entertain Manchester United in a potentially volatile FA Cup fourth round tie.
It is the first meeting between the teams since Luis Suarez was found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra during the 1-1 Premier League clash at Anfield in October.
While Suarez is serving the penultimate match of his subsequent eight-match ban, Evra is expected to lead United out into a hostile atmosphere.
But Dalglish is convinced Liverpool’s fans will be more concerned with backing their own team than abusing the opposition.
“We would not tell them how to suck eggs,” said the Anfield manager. “They know how valuable their support is to our football team.
“They lifted us on Wednesday night, they know the players responded to it and enjoyed it. They got us through to Wembley.
“A repeat performance would be perfect and if we give a repeat performance, we will give ourselves a huge opportunity.
“They have always concentrated on getting behind the team. That is the best way for them to do it.”
Liverpool FC go into the game on the back of Wednesday’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester City that was enough to seal a place in next month’s Carling Cup final at Wembley.
And Dalglish added: “We want the fantastic support we had the other night and there’s no reason to think we’re not going to get that. Anything else is a sideshow for us.
“For us the, most important thing is the game, and we have to go and play the game as best we possibly again.
“People will have their own opinions on what has happened (with Suarez), but it shouldn’t be used as an occasion to do anything other than enjoy the match and support the team.
