LIVERPOOL FC striker Andy Carroll is confident he is finding his stride at LFC after helping dump Manchester United out of the FA Cup – as the Anfield outfit dismissed claims of trying to swap the striker for Carlos Tevez.

Carroll had a hand in both goals as Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool FC side earned a dramatic 2-1 home win over their bitter North West rivals in Saturday’s fourth-round tie.

The club record £35million signing distracted United goalkeeper David de Gea for Liverpool’s opener and then provided the flick-on that released substitute Dirk Kuyt for a decisive strike two minutes from time.

And after a difficult first 12 months at Anfield, Carroll is confident his performance against United can kickstart his spell at the club.

“I thought I did well against United but now I’ve just got to keep on going and keep working on it and then it will come,” said Carroll.

“I think I’m just getting into my stride now. Everyone is getting used to how I play and I’m getting used to everyone else but everyone is helping me and now I just need to get going.

“The manager and everyone at the club have given me a lot of support. Everyone is backing me and helping me along the way.

“I love it here. All the lads are great with me in training and away from the training ground everyone has been great with me as well.

“There’s never been a time I’ve regretted the move, not at all. The club has been great with me and I’m enjoying it here.”

Reports over the weekend suggested Manchester City had on Thursday rejected an offer from Liverpool of a straight swap between Carroll and Tevez.

But an Anfield official said yesterday: “It is fundamentally and categorically just not true.”

Carroll has also been linked with a return to Newcastle United, but added: “I’m just here. I’ve signed a contract here and this is the team I’m playing for.”
