PEPE REINA believes Liverpool FC are facing the biggest game of their season this weekend as they bid for a swift return to Wembley in the FA Cup.
But the LFC goalkeeper is confident Kenny Dalglish’s side have the character to move a step nearer clinching a domestic cup double.
Liverpool entertain Stoke City on Sunday with a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at stake.
Victory would secure a second appearance at Wembley inside two months following their Carling Cup triumph over Cardiff City last month.
Dalglish’s men go into the game having halted a run of three successive Premier League defeats with a 3-0 triumph over neighbours Everton at Anfield on Tuesday night thanks to Steven Gerrard’s memorable treble.
And Reina said: “This derby win came at a special moment for us. We have been through a weak spell in recent weeks, but it’s up to us to recover and get back on track.
“This team I can guarantee has plenty of character and we have another game on Sunday. The derby win has been a really big boost for us.
“Sunday’s game is perhaps the most important game of the season for us. It will be a cup final for us.
“It is another opportunity for us to get back to Wembley, and that means a lot for us and for the club. To take one more step closer to a trophy is an opportunity for us.
“We have to play our best, and playing at Anfield is something we can take confidence from.”
