Raheem Sterling 300
LIVERPOOL FC teenager Raheem Sterling has been handed a surprise call-up to the full England squad for Tuesday night's World Cup qualifier with Ukraine.
The 17-year-old winger has been drafted in by Roy Hodgson after both Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge were struck down with illness over the weekend.
Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore and Southampton's Adam Lallana have also been added to Hodgson's squad for the Wembley clash.
Sterling's call comes as something of a surprise. The former Queens Park Rangers youngster has made just eight senior appearances for Liverpool, though has caught the eye having forced his way into Brendan Rodgers' starting lineup at the start of this season.
Sterling has one England U19 cap to his name, but his fast-track to the full squad could be a bid to convince him to snub the advances of Jamaica, the country of his birth, who want him to represent them at international level.
His promotion to the full England squad means Liverpool have three representatives, with Glen Johnson and Steven Gerrard already involved.
