THE family of a 19-year-old Hillsborough victim say they need to find out the truth about his last moments so they can finally have peace.

Paul Carlile, from Kirkby, had travelled to the semi-final the day before he was due to start a job as a plasterer but never made it home.

He was taken out to the back of the stadium rather than on to the pitch with other victims and his mum Sandra Stringer and sister Donna Miller say they have been left with unanswered questions about how he died.

Sandra, 65, said: We just want to know the truth to give us some peace.

Paul had travelled to Sheffield with friends but split up from them to try to swap his ticket for a seat on a higher level.

Donna, 46, said: He was worried because hed been there the year before and was terrified to go back.

Weve seen video of him stood outside with his back against the railings trying to keep out of the way.

Then the police ordered all the fans to go into the stadium so he did. Thats what he was like, if the police told him to do something, he would.

Paul, who is also survived by older sister Michelle and younger brother Darren, was in Pen Four in the stadium when he was caught in the crush.

Male nurse Michael Hollinghurst has described seeing Paul trying to pull himself up on to the higher stand.

Donna said: He said that when Paul lost his grip they were trying to pull him up by his hair.

Michael Hollinghurst came down and tried to resuscitate him but someone told him to leave him and said there was nothing he could do.

Then fans were ordered to carry him back out of Gate C.
