JAMIE CARRAGHER is not bothered by claims Liverpool are over-dependent on Luis Suarez – and believes there is no better player in the Premier League.
Suarez netted his 11th goal of the season to rescue a point for the Anfield outfit in their 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Sunday.
The Uruguayan has scored eight of his side’s 14 top-flight goals this season while providing the assist for another two strikes, prompting accusations Liverpool are a one-man team.
Carragher, though, insists every club is heavily influenced by a leading player and believes Suarez’s strike-rate has silenced critics who believe he doesn’t score enough goals.
“People say that we are dependent on Suarez, but listen,” said the veteran centre-back. “Messi at Barcelona. Ronaldo at Real Madrid.
“Don’t get me wrong, Manchester United have had a lot of goalscorers from different positions.
“But every team will have a standout player, and Luis is one of them, not just in the Premier League but in the world.
“I’ve said for 12 months now that he’s the best player in the Premier League because he’s maybe not playing alongside the kind of players that the Chelsea players can play alongside.”
Suarez is top scorer in the Premier League alongside Manchester United’s Robin van Persie, with the pair also the leading marksmen in all competitions this season.
And Carragher added: “He’s one of the best players in world football and we are delighted to have him. He does things in a game that we see him doing in training on a daily basis.
