“The Premier League is really difficult and I am only 19 years old so I need to keep working to improve and try to learn from all the great players that we have here with lots of experience.

“The biggest thing is that you cannot fall asleep in this team. You always have to work hard every day and show the boss and everyone here that you are playing well.

“There are a lot of good players and not everyone can play every week but if you don’t, the next week you need to show that you are doing well.”

Scottish Premier League side Hearts are eyeing another loan raid on Liverpool with a move for 20-year-old reserve striker Michael Ngoo.

Hearts last week agreed a deal to sign Scotland international centre-back Danny Wilson on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool winger Jimmy Payne, dubbed the ‘Merseyside Matthews’ having also played for Everton, has passed away at the age of 86.

Payne was the last surviving member of the 1950 FA Cup final team, the first time Liverpool had played at Wembley.

He scored 43 goals in 243 games for the Anfield outfit having made his debut in September 1948 against Bolton Wanderers.
