JACK DUNN struck twice as Liverpool FC kept their hopes of FA Youth Cup glory alive with an impressive 3-0 victory over Hull City at the KC Stadium.
The Reds blew the Tigers away with a dominant second-half performance to book themselves a two-legged semi-final with holders Chelsea.
Impressive centre-back Lloyd Jones broke the deadlock just after the interval and then England youth international Dunn took centre stage.
The 18-year-old from Wavertree made it 2-0 with a classy finish after cutting in off the right and Dunn grabbed his second late on to complete an emphatic triumph for Steve Cooper's side.
It’s been six years since Liverpool last won the FA Youth Cup but with such an abundance of talent there is good reason to believe they can end that wait and lift the trophy for a fourth time.
“It was a very professional performance,” Cooper said. “It was tough but I thought we controlled the game.
“In the first half we didn't threaten the goal enough and we spoke at half-time about getting our attacking players up the pitch a bit more and running in behind them. We did that second half and that's where the goals came from.”
Cooper made just one change to the side which beat Leeds 3-1 in the previous round as centre-back Dan Cleary was preferred to Tom Brewitt, who dropped to the bench.
The young Reds started brightly with the blistering pace of Jordon Ibe causing the Tigers plenty of problems down the left. The 17-year-old, who played for the first team during last summer's pre-season tour of North America, regularly got in behind the hosts' rearguard but the final ball was lacking.
Chances were at a premium in the opening 45 minutes as both teams struggled to keep possession on a poor playing surface.
Jordan Rossiter, who at 15 is the youngest member of Cooper's side, powered a header over after being picked out by skipper Jordan Lussey's inviting cross, while at the other end Danny Chambers turned smartly and fired into the side-netting
With striker Jerome Sinclair starved of service and struggling to make an impact, Liverpool were reduced to trying their luck from distance but Daniel Trickett-Smith's 25-yarder was comfortably saved by Joe Cracknell.
Jones nodded wide at the back post before Jack Dunn and Lussey both failed to hit the target from long-range.
