Friendly gesture

PRESCOT CABLES continued their preparation for the start of their fourth season in the UniBond Premier Division with a friendly 2-2 draw at UniBond First Division North side Clitheroe.

Scorers for Prescot were Darren Byers and Eammon Price.

The committee of Clitheroe FC, through chairman Carl Garner, whose son Simon is a former Cables player, made a magnificent gesture by donating 50% of the gate receipts to Cables.

Prescot’s UniBond campaign gets under way on Saturday with a trip to Hull to face North Ferriby United. Cables’ first home game of the season is the following Tuesday, against Kendal Town at Valerie Park (kick-off 7.45pm).
