NORTHWICH Victoria have lodged an appeal against an FA tribunal settlement of £4,000 following the recent move to Accrington Stanley of centre-half Mark Roberts.
Chairman Mike Connett calls the settlement ‘derisory’ as Northwich-born Roberts had been on Vics’ retained list and the player had agreed to re-sign for the club before upping sticks for Stanley.
One of the club’s highest-paid players winger Carlos Roca has had his two-year contract cancelled by mutual agreement and may join Blue Square Premier rivals Droylsden next week.
A big gate is expected today for the first visit to the Victoria Stadium of demoted League Two club Torquay United, who have made a good start to their non-League lives with four points from games against Grays and Aldershot.
With only one point so far, Vics do not expect to have latest signing Lee Steele in their attack as he is recovering from a hamstring strain, while striker Kevin Townson is serving a three-match ban. Unavailable are injured midfielder Brad Maylett and Jake Speight.
