Controversy as Claughton win feisty encounter

NEW boys in the Birkenhead Sunday League JB Leasing FC found the going tough against old hands, Claughton Village Hotel losing 3-1.

Neither keeper was forced into action during a gritty first half.

But the game sprung into life on 45 minutes in controversial circumstances.

With a break in the play due to a minor injury, Claughton restarted and passed the ball back to the JB Leasing keeper. However, he hadn’t seen the re-start and Graham Walkett rolled the ball into the back of the net much to the frustration of the Leasing players.

With Leasing throwing players forward in search of an equaliser Claughton edged further in front thanks to a Steve Kendrick goal.

Late on Walkett seized completed the victory scoring his second of the game.

JB Leasing didn’t give in however, and on the 89th minute chipped the ball over the Claughton keeper to pick out of his net.
