Injury sees Witton Albion v Poynton abandonment

A BADLY broken ankle suffered by Witton Albion reserves player Tim Drohan caused Saturday’s Cheshire Building Society Cheshire Association League First Division game against Poynton to be abandoned.

Witton were leading 2-1 with eight minutes remaining with goals from Dean Williams and Drohan himself when the player went down under a tackle in the penalty area. He could not be moved until an ambulance arrived and the referee abandoned the game.

Middlewich Town made it five wins in a row at the top of the table when they overcame Trafford Reserves 3-1 at Seddon Street, while Curzon Ashton Reserves’ unbeaten start was ended by Greenall Padgate St Oswalds for whom Rob Hanley and Tom Hennessey scored to take the Warrington side into second spot.
