PRESCOT set aside their indifferent league form to earn a deserved win in this FA Cup first qualifying round game with a late goal from substitute Marvin Molyneux.
Prescot had the better of the first half with Eammon Price and Darren Byers forcing saves from Jon Kennedy and Karl Bell having a header cleared off the line.
But their defence was caught napping in the second minute of added time when Dean Crowe gave Witton the lead with a simple tap-in.
Prescot were fired up in the second half and Byers put them level on 60 minutes.
Substitute Marvin Molyneux was on the field for only three minutes before he drove a 30-yard free kick through the wall and into net to put Prescot ahead on 80 minutes.
Richie Mottram ensured Prescot progressed to the next round with a fine save at the foot of the post from Alex Brown on 85 minutes which was Prescot’s only scare in the closing stages.
