THE Premier Division top-of-the-table clash saw champions Waterloo Dock and George Mahon Cup winners East Villa go head to head last weekend.
And it was East Villa who won bragging rights in a 3-1 win to go two points clear. Scorers for Villa were Shaun Tuck (to take his tally to 11), John Cavanagh and Steve Melling while for Waterloo Dock it was Liam Husson.
Second place goes to Red Rum who comprehensively beat Speke 6-2, to banish last week’s defeat. A rare goal for Tony Rendell, and a hat-trick for James Conley.
South Liverpool stay fourth after 6-1 away win at BRNESC, who are finding the Premier Division a hard place to get results. South’s goals came from Gary Dunning (4), James Kelly and Adam Rudd. Danny Kearney scored again for BRNESC.
St Aloysius go fifth after a 2-0 away win at Roma. NLETC shared the points with Old Xaverians in a 1-1 draw, Carl Gargan with the goal for Xavs and Mark Johnson for NELTC.
Birchfield knocked five past Lucas Sports without reply to move into ninth. Billy O’Callaghan, scored two of the goals, assisted by Tom Rankin also with two and Gary Kearney.
South Sefton Boro and St Dominics also shared four goals, Geoff Dodd and John Shaw for the Doms and Anthony Dowd and Alex McNab for South Sefton.
In Division One, Alder FC are now five points clear of the chasing pack after a 2-1 win at Page Celtic. Timmy Naylor found the net for Alder FC to take his total to four. Page Celtic scored through Tony Sullivan.
Second-placed, Aigburth PH were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at Mackets Grenadier, and lose ground on Alder. Anthony Askew scored the all-important goal for Mackets.
Stoneycroft go third after a 4-1 win at struggling Albany Athletic with Finegan scoring a pair for Stoneycroft.
REMYCA United go fourth despite being held 1-1 by Kingsley United. Ian Wareing scored for REMYCA only for it to be cancelled out by an own goal for Kingsley.
North Sefton are also struggling and were beaten 7-0 by a resurgent Angus Village, with Paul Manning hitting four (six in all competitions) and Paul Collier with a further two.
Cheshire Lines and Warbreck drew 2-2. Mike Clough and John Flood for Warbreck while Steve McLinden and Adam Joseph replied for Cheshire.
Finally, Copperas Hill are on a roll, beating Edge Hill 3-2 to move into sixth. Joe Grady grabbed two of the goals for Copperas Hill.
In Division Twi, Sacre Coeur stretched their lead to three points after a tight but narrow win over Liobians 1-0 – and it was that man Mike Carragher again with the vital strike.
Redgate Rovers and Eli Lilly shared six goals and a point each. Scott Fitzsimmons scored two of the goals for Redgate.
