Non-League: Radcliffe Borough 0, Skelmersdale United 1

SINCE their opening day defeat at Bradford Park Avenue, United have gone eight games unbeaten in all competitions and kept six clean sheets in the process.

Georgie Donnelly’s 17th-minute goal divided the two teams in the final analysis, but Skem could have easily been leading 4-0 by half-time.

They continued to take the game to Radcliffe in the second half, but once again keeper Dittmer denied them when he turned Donnelly’s shot over the crossbar.

The longer Radcliffe kept United at bay the more their confidence grew, and in a twist to the tale, it was United’s keeper Ryan McMahon who went on to deny Radcliffe a route back into the game as he pulled off three instinctive saves.

Radcliffe will believe they should have had at least a share of the spoils with their late flurry, but generally United fought well in all areas and overall they edged the game.

SKELMERSDALE UNITED: McMahon, Duffy, Foster, Akrigg, White, Holland, Birchall, Turner, Eaton, Donnelly, Noone (Cass 82) Subs: McConville. Hardwick.
