Mitchell breaches Dynamo defences

WARRINGTON Town travelled to struggling Shepshed looking to add to their recent good league form with three points in the UniBond League First Division.

The flashpoint of the first half happened in the 13th minute, when Ged Courtney was denied after Shepshed defender Sam Carter handled the ball above his head, the referee being the only person not to agree it was a penalty.

Midfielder Mike Ellison twice went close for Town.

The second half began as the first half had ended, with Town in control but not looking like breaking the deadlock. Karl Robinson’s scuffed effort and a Courtney header coming closest.

The introduction of Graeme Mitchell from the bench gave Town fresh impetus and it was Mitchell who gave Town a deserved lead when he beat Hateley to a Kevin Hannon cross to head into the open goal in the 78th minute.

Substitute Tom Guiney forced Danny Morton into a save deep into injury time which denied the home team an equaliser.
