Hammill hammers house to stunning comeback

BELFRY must have thought it was in the bag at half-time as double strikes from Liam Blackwood and Robbie Hardwicke had them 4-1 ahead of Copplehouse in the Premier Division.

But Copplehouse have proved since they came into the league they never give up and, with a double from Lee Dickenson and a Lee Hammill hat-trick, turned it around for a 5-4 win.

Home & Bargain beat BRNESC at Melling Road with 18-year-old James Nelson netting a debut hat-trick, a goal apiece from Parle Mason and Paul Mullally rounding it off as they derailed the Railwaymen 8-4.

Lee Jones had Tommy Noone on target as they drew 1-1 with JOB after a goal by Liam Nethercot, but it was goalkeeper Tommy Farrell who took the plaudits as he had a blinder and kept his side in the game to earn them a point.

Falcon stopped Nicosia’s fine start to the season as a Gary Carney strike proved to be the only goal and Aaron Peake netted to ensure that Quarry Green took the points against Obiter Fab4 1-0.

In Division One Aidens, thanks to McGarry and Scott, shared the spoils with Alder, who netted through Naylor and Rooney. Rice Lane proved to be too strong for St Sebastians and ran out 2-0 winners.

St Mark’s had Graeme Long and Kevin Hoskinson on target as they beat Martini Transport 2-0 in Division Two and Dunnys had a fine 3-2 victory at GRA An Ian Rossiter free-kick and a Jimmy Gaskell header was enough to stop Mossley Hill’s winning run in a 2-2 draw and a Carl Daulby’s goal was enough to give Quarry Bank Res a 1-0 win at Strawberry Tavern.

Santiago were far too strong for AFC Breckside in Division Three as Mark Cronican scored four in an 8-0 victory.
