VAUXHALL MOTORS booked their place in the final qualifying round, thanks to a stunning injury-time winner from Taylor, just when it seemed as if Guiseley’s keeper Dickinson had done enough to gain a replay in this excellent FA Cup third qualifying round cup tie.
The Motormen were unfortunate to find themselves a goal down at the break, having dominated the proceedings from early on.
The high-flying UniBond League Premier Division hosts struck on 27 minutes, through Hanson who netted from 10 yards out.
But the visitors drew level on 58 minutes when Taylor set up Motors’ man-of-the-match Field, who fired home from a similar distance to the keeper’s left. Six minutes later, Vauxhall gained the lead, when Taylor’s overhead kick struck the bar and Wright was on hand to slot home the rebound from close in.
But if the Motormen thought that was enough, they were caught when Guiseley equalised on 70 minutes. Krief made the most of a lucky bounce off the referee to score off an upright. Motors keeper Lake then made a terrific double save to keep the hosts out, while at the opposite end, Dickinson repeatedly performed heroics.
But even he was left powerless by Taylor in the third minute of added time. The Vauxhall striker took charge of a loose ball inside the centre circle before embarking on an amazing run through the heart of the Guisely defence, rounding the keeper and stroking home a glorious winner.
