WARRINGTON TOWN lost their unbeaten run of four games in this UniBond League First Division South fixture.
They were victims of their own downfall as goalkeeper Danny Morton was sent off and they also missed penalty.
They were not helped by a bad decision by the assistant referee either.
Both teams started well but there was no breakthrough in the first half with Ellison going close with a snap shot.
Alsager counted on the long ball over the top but Coyne and Elder were steady in the defence.
Six minutes into the second half Steve Smith was pushed in the back and referee Darren Hadley blew for a penalty decision but Smith’s spot-kick was poor and Conkie saved.
Morton was then sent off minutes later after making a snap decision to pick up the ball outside the area.
Mathew Elder went in goal and it wasn’t long before Alsager led when Elder spilled the ball and Whittaker was there to poke the ball home on 57 minutes.
Liam Coyne had a free header to level but his header went wide.
Alsager were gifted a second when assistant referee Simpson missed an offside against Proffitt, who went on to score.
Phil Mitchell did well after he came on and Conkie had to make a fine save to deny him scoring from a free kick.
Town: Morton, Dunne, Fitzsimmons, Elder, Coyne, McAllister (G Mitchell 84), Smith, Ellison (P Mitchell 73), Moores, Courtney (Edward 60s).
