Mariners sail past Lincoln once again

LINCOLN will be glad to see the back of Marine as they completed a league and cup double in this Unibond Premier League clash.

Although they never quite hit the heights of last week’s five-goal drubbing Marine still had too much for a spirited United.

Marine took the lead in the 21st minute when Paul Woolcott’s cross eluded everybody except Lee Parle, who drove the ball home at the far post.

Three minutes later Marine were indebted to Freddie Potter for a goal-line clearance.

The second half was delayed for more than five minutes when Gary Wilson slipped and dislocated his elbow.

Marine made the game safe in the 81st minute when Woolcott made a penetrating break and fed Kevin Towey, who in turn played in Peter Cumiskey.

With the form Cumiskey is in at the moment, there was only going to be one outcome and the prolific striker smashed in his 15th goal of the season to maintain Marine’s rich run of form.
