Vics future to be resolved this week

NORTHWICH Victoria’s month-long stand-off with HM Customs & Excise and other creditors is expected to be resolved this week as the consortium bidding to save the Blue Square Premier League club from liquidation forecast a positive outcome.

A spokesman for the three-man group said: “The Revenue have asked us for a written guarantee of the amount we can pay and our lawyers say when that is done, a settlement can be reached.

“Directly this matter is resolved, which should be by Wednesday, a statement will be issued which we expect will be to the long-term benefit of the club and its supporters.”

Meanwhile, manager Dino Maamria’s beleaguered team, bottom of the league and now out of the FA Cup, tonight host UniBond League club Nantwich Town, managed by former Vics manager Steve Davies.

Maamria plans to field a full-strength team of fit players in a desperate bid to strike form before some difficult Blue Square fixtures coming up, starting with a visit to high-flying Cambridge United on Saturday.

Northwich have learned that striker Jonny Allan, who broke his leg in two places last January, has had a setback in his bid to return to action.

An infection was discovered when Allan had a pin surgically removed last week which will delay his return to action until early December.
