Injury-time header claims a last-gasp winner for Cables
PRESCOT Cables snatched victory in the UniBond League Premier Division thanks to a header from Shaun Tierney two minutes into injury time.
Stamford’s Leon Mettam squandered the first of several chances when he shot wide after nine minutes.
Karl Connolly had a shot cleared off the line for Cables after 20 minutes.
Ten minutes later the ever-impressive Ryan Wade also shot wide.
After 32 minutes Colin Flood played the ball up the field to Lynch who shot the home side into a 1-0 lead.
Lynch nearly doubled the lead after 39 minutes but his shot was cleared off the line.
A corner from the left after 52 minutes found the head of Adam Jones who scored for Stamford.
Two minutes into stoppage time a cross from the left found the head of substitute Shaun Tierney. His bullet header left the goalkeeper no chance and Cables ran out 2-1 winners.
