THERE was little Christmas cheer on show at the Arriva Stadium for Marine fans as a determined display by Buxton restricted the Mariners to a few half chances in this UniBond Premier clash.
Marine could have made a breakthrough on seven minutes when Parle struck an Ian Latham corner goalwards, but Anderson made a great save.
On 23 minutes a Paul Woolcott cross was dummied by Peter Cumiskey and Parle saw his shot deflected just over the bar.
From the resultant corner Richard O’Donnell made a good save to take the ball off the head of Cumiskey.
Right on half-time, Latham struck a powerful free-kick but O’Donnell made a comfortable save.
In the 67th minute Buxton won the game.
Eddie Hussin dawdled on the ball and was robbed by Anton Foster, who collected the ball and struck a shot that went into the net off the inside of the post.
