GREENALL Padgate St Oswald had their winning run checked at the top of the Cheshire Building Society Cheshire League First Division when they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by lowly Linotype/Cheadle Heath.
The Warrington club, who have never won the league championship, still lead by eight points but will be looking over their shoulders at reigning champions Middlewich Town, who have shrugged off a bad patch.
Manager Terry Murphy has expressed his determination to win the title for the third successive season and was pleased with his team’s performance in beating fourth-placed Crosfields 3-2 at Seddon Street, thanks to a late goal by Mike Brandon.
Town are now trailing the league leaders by 12 points, but with three games in hand.
Pilkington moved into second spot above Styal although they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Knutsford.
Division Two leaders FC United of Manchester reserves were without a fixture, but are in the happy position of leading the table by 13 points from Warrington Town reserves, who have three games in hand.
Unbeaten for six weeks, Warrington dropped two points when they were held to a goalless draw by Whitchurch Alport at the Cantilever Stadium.
Eagle Sports dropped to bottom place when they were beaten 4-2 at home by Tarporley Vics.
