Prescot battle to draw

CABLES battled for a point at a drenched Nethermoor Park in this Unibond Premier League encounter.

Both sides attempted to pass the ball around and, with a man from each side being sent off before the end, it turned out to be an incident-packed afternoon.

Prescot were denied a penalty when the referee awarded a free-kick after Price was sandwiched between two defenders when he appeared to be in the area.

The conditions and the referee combined to be the deciding factors in the second period. Cables keeper Mottram was adjudged to have handled outside the area as he slid across the wet ground and was sent off.

Mike O’Donnell took over the gloves and Guiseley took advantage when Hanson’s header sped in.

Prescot then put the home side on the back foot and when Tommy Taylor was brought down in the penalty area, Ellis was sent off for being the final defender. Thomas Moore stroked away the spot-kick.

PRESCOT CABLES: Mottram, Cooney, Smith, O’Donnell, Bell, Moore, Wade, Byers, Connolly, Price, McNutt. Subs: Eddie Taylor, McEwan, Tommy Taylor
