Greenall slip-up allows pack to keep in touch

WITH leaders Greenall Padgate St Oswald’s held to a goalless draw, triple challengers Pilkington, Styal and Middlewich Town all made up ground in the First Division title race.

Styal are now three points behind with a game in hand after a 4-1 home win over Gamesley. John Thornton and Mark Tuart both scored twice for Styal.

Pilkington stayed in the reckoning after a 3-2 win over Woodley Sports with two goals from Tony Scott.

In fourth, Crosfields slipped 1-0 at home to Barnton, as Mike Sandbach scored a well-taken winner.

Reigning champions Middlewich Town trail the leaders by 12 points but hammered struggling Rylands 7-0 at Seddon Street with a hat-trick from Mike Brandon.

Club AZ did their Division Two championship hopes a power of good with a 4-0 win at Macclesfield against Daten with Harry Wheetman (2), Craig Scott and Jordan Pearson on the mark. They are now 12 points behind runaway leaders FC United of Manchester reserves, but have five games in hand.

Warrington Town reserves virtually fell out of the promotion reckoning when their bad patch continued with a 1-0 home defeat by lowly Lostock Gralam.

A Mike Dawson goal helped Golborne Sports win 1-0 at Eagle.
