Wrexham launch cross-border raid for Chester City’s Kevin Ellison

CHESTER CITY last night received an official approach from neighbours Wrexham about the availability of their midfield player Kevin Ellison ahead of their game at home to Rochdale tonight (7.45pm).

The Welshmen have tabled a five figure bid for the 28-year-old, who rejoined City in the summer from Tranmere Rovers.

City owner Stephen Vaughan said last night: “We will consider the offer, but if the financial valuation doesn’t meet ours, and more importantly if the manager doesn’t want the player to move on, then the deal won’t go through.”

Ellison has scored eight goals in 26 League appearances for City.

Chester will be aiming to record their first victory of the year tonight, when thy entertain Rochdale at the Deva Stadium.

Chester have only picked up one point from the last 21 on offer, but winger Ritchie Partridge is confident that the side can bounce back.

“The lads are giving one hundred per cent, and working their socks off for each other, but at the moment it’s just not happening.

“Hopefully against Rochdale we can turn it around, and stick a couple in the back of the net, and keep a clean sheet.

“We are going through a bit of a bad spell at the minute, all we are lacking is a little bit of luck.”

City don’t have any new injury worries, but there could be changes from the side that met Rotherham United last weekend.
