Vics fail in Brayson bid

NORTHWICH ViCTORIA failed in a bid to re-sign Paul Brayson, one of their most prolific goalscorers, shortly before the transfer window closed.

Controversially released last May, Brayson joined York City but was released and expressed an interest in coming back to the club where he scored more than 60 goals in a three-season spell. Instead he has opted to join UniBond Premier club Gateshead nearer his North-East home.

At Kidderminster Harriers today in a re-arranged Blue Square Premiership game, Northwich recall left-back Adrian Brown and midfielder Josh Wilson after suspension, otherwise retain the side which drew 2-2 with Halifax Town a week ago.

Manager Dino Maamria said: “A point was no good against Halifax and the same goes at Kiddy, even though it will be a tougher task.” In the absence of injured Lee Steele, Maamria will hope new striker Aaron Burns keeping up his scoring record of four goals in four games

Northwich: Edge; Kerr, Belle, Welch, Brown; Mullan, Wilson, Carr, Horrocks; Burns, Akins. Substitutes: Connett, Bowler, Crowell, Meadowcroft, Hanley.
