BURSCOUGH manager Liam Watson was so pleased with Saturday’s success over the promotion-chasing Warwickshire outfit that he described their performance was “the best yet”. .
Burscough could well grab a promotion spot via the Blue Square North play-offs.
Burscough showed early resilience before running out comprehensive winners in this one. In the first half-hour, Nuneaton missed a handful of good opportunities, with former Everton man Neil Moore the main culprit.
It was another former “Blue,” that gave Burscough the lead on the half-hour and with it the confidence to move into top gear, Brian Moogan driving home from 20 yards.
The Linnets deservedly increased their lead in the 58th minute; Kilheeney smashing home from the penalty spot after Borough defender Gavin Cowan handled Matt McGinn’s 20-yard effort.
Burscough are becoming a nemesis to the other promotion chasing teams, their last three victories being achieved against teams in the promotion picture.
