TITLE hopefuls Cammell Laird made it two victories in the space of a week against their Leicestershire visitors.
Once again though Lairds were made to battle for the points against a Shepshed Dynamo side whose performance belied their lowly league position.
It was the visitors who took the lead in the 12th minute when a Dave Frecklington cross found Matt Mills, his well-directed and powerful header giving keeper Paul Whitfield no chance.
The Lairdsmen restored parity when Eddie Jebb found Alex Hay in the box his initial shot was well saved by Gary Hateley, however the ball rebounded to Hay who from eight yards out had a tap-in.
The second period saw Dynamo valiantly trying to stay in the game but their sprits were sunk on 72 minutes when a towering header from John Collins gave the lead to the home side.
Any hopes of a Shepshed comeback were shattered in the 82nd minute when Joe Gibiliru broke through the centre and as Hateley advanced he squared for Thomas Rooney to calmly add a third and secure the points. With leaders Retford drawing at Sheffield FC the weekend leaves Lairds four points behind the Nottinghamshire side but with a game in hand.
CAMMELL LAIRD: Whitfield, Sheehan, Lynch, G.Rooney (Gibiliru 56), Wright (Melia 70), Collins, Jebb (Brookes 75), Porter, T Rooney, Hay, Adamson.
