Grantham T 6, Cammell Laird 0

IT was without doubt a turbulent day at the office for promotion hopefuls Cammell Laird in this UniBond League Division One South clash.

Third-placed Grantham took Lairds to the cleaners with a bag full of goals that left the Wirral outfit stunned.

Two early goals gave the Gingerbreads the advantage but Lairds pressed on to try to get back into the match as a clearance off the line thwarted Alex Hay's effort.

Then the home side took the ball up to the other end to make it three.

Any hopes of a second half resurgence from Lairds were knocked on the head with a further three goals for the Lincolnshire side within the first 15 minutes of the restart.

The result leaves Lairds with a mountain to climb as they attempt to regain the top spot from Retford United.
