THE Tower claimed a Premier Division Cup final place when beating Poulton Royal 2-1 in a well contested encounter that saw Tom Hughes and Max Blood score the vital goals and Dave Favager netting the lone response.
The only Premier division fixture ended in a nine-goal thriller, with Ship FC sinking five of those to beat Egremont Ferry 5-4. Stuart Speed (2), Lee Davey, Tom Freeman and Phil Armstrong bagged the goals.
Despite a very good challenge by Cheshire Cheese they had very little luck and lost 6-2 against Lighthouse in the Magee Cup second round as Mick Bates, Nick Cooper and James Clare got amongst the goals.
Oyster Catcher claimed the Jimmy Boswell Cup following an epic 4-3 extra time victory over Grange FC (Wayne Robinson with two and Jamie Quinn one) thanks to Chris Black, Robbie Black, Mark Howell and Gareth Griffith being on target.
The overdue Youth Division Cup semi-final resulted in a 3-2 win for Ellesmere Port as they saw off Irby Youth in an extra time encounter and the only league game in their division did not take place due to New Brighton Saints being unable to field a side against Christleton Youth, who go top above inactive Neston Nomads.
Division Two action saw The Joeys move above Farmers Arms after beating them 3-2 with Sean Billington and Graeme Jones on target for Farmers.
Still top are Liscard Bronze as they overcame Stanleys Cask with a late flourish of goals to win 4-1 as John Pringle netted a brace and Danny Banicale and Joel Ledsham added singles.
Top scorers of the day were Turnberrys when they eased home 6-0 against Mackenzies through Paul Spence (2), Paul Sprakes (2), Lee Simpson and John Mills.
Following the recent death of Stan Scotland there was a charity function held in the Rose & Crown and more than £1,000 was raised. Stan’s partner Julie would like to thank everyone who attended. Julie would also like to thank the organising committee for their support and friends that provided donations.
The Youth Division Cup final is on March 23 at Poulton Victoria’s ground between Neston Nomads and Ellesmere Port (11am).
