Easy win recorded by super Town
WARRINGTON Town’s super performance restricted Stocksbridge Park Steels to a hand full of chances as a Thomas Lamb double and Carl Rendell secured the points for Town in the UniBond Premier league.
Kevin Towey back from injury was outstanding in the first half and Andy Thomas was also back after injury to add much-needed strength to a Warrington side in seacrh of some much needed victories after a long, hard campaign.
And the home team were first to get off the mark in the first half when Anthony Daniels shot was well saved by Stocksbridge keeper Andy Jefferey.
Francis Smith hit the side netting half way through the half, Jefferey was on hand again when Carl Rendell should have hit the back of the net on 32 minutes.
But Town took the lead on 45 minutes a through ball from Rendell set up Lamb to flick the ball past Jefferey.
Stocksbridge came out in the second half looking for the equaliser but Town’s defence held firm and on 68 minutes the home team increased their lead when Rendell scored from along ball by Town’s keeper Diego Bassanini was put through by Lamb to drill the ball passed Jefferey, the best goal came four minutes from full time. Anthony Daniels’ cross was met by Lamb and his half-volley sailed into the back of the net to give Warrington a well deserved win.
